General Agreement

By becoming a Member of The International Civil Aviation English Association (ICAEA), you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

1. Becoming a Member

An ICAEA Member is someone who has completed the Membership Application and paid the Annual Membership Fee.

Membership Benefits become available immediately after successful online payment of the Annual Membership Fee and verification of your email address.

2. Membership Benefits

ICAEA Membership benefits include:

  1. Members-only Webinars
    Exclusive, free access to members-only webinars and other interactive virtual events.
  2. Open Webinars
    Priority & free registration for open webinars to guarantee a place when spaces are limited.
  3. Virtual Workshops
    Priority & free registration for virtual workshops.
  4. In-Person Events
    Discounted & priority registration for in-person conferences and workshops.
  5. Newsfeed and Discussion
    Members-only access to the online ICAEA Newsfeed containing articles of interest to the aviation English community with linked discussion threads.
  6. Members Area
    Access to members-only content on the ICAEA website, including archives of presentations, recordings and proceedings from virtual and in-person event.

The number of events in ICAEA’s annual program may vary from year to year, and may depend on factors beyond the Association’s control.

Membership Benefits include free and discounted registration for ICAEA virtual and in-person events. Terms and Conditions of registration may be applicable to certain events and will be provided during event registration.

3. Period, Renewal and Cancellation of Membership

The period of Membership is 12 months from the date of joining or renewal.

Membership can not be transferred to another person.

Membership benefits stop 12 months from the date of joining or renewal, unless renewed or cancelled.

To renew your Membership, log in your ICAEA account and use the ‘Renew’ link on your ‘Account’ page.

If you do not renew your Membership, you will remain on ICAEA’s General Mailing List.

You can remove yourself from ICAEA’s General Mailing List using the ‘Unsubscribe’ link that is included at the end of all messages you receive from us.

As a first time Member, for up to 14 days from date of joining, you may cancel your membership and receive a full refund of the Annual Membership Fee, if you have not used any Membership Benefits. No refund is available after this initial 14-day ‘cooling off’ period.

4. Member Code of Conduct

Members are not permitted to:

  1. use their ICAEA Membership to claim or suggest any form of accreditation, qualification, indicator of quality or other status for themselves or their organisation, in any profile, on any media or in any correspondence,
  2. use the ICAEA logo in any personal, professional or organisational capacity,
  3. copy, modify, adapt, decompile or disassemble ICAEA’s intellectual property, including the content of the ICAEA website (e.g. event presentations, recordings, associated documents) in any way without the express written permission of the ICAEA Board.

Members should take reasonable steps to protect, not misuse or share their login credentials to the ICAEA website with a third party.

In the interests of good practice, to maintain the non-commercial ethos of the Association, and, to maintain a positive and inclusive atmosphere, Members must:

  1. follow ICAEA’s Code of Professional Practice,
  2. contribute to in-person and online events and discussions in a respectful manner,
  3. not directly or indirectly advertise or commercially promote a product or service at in-person or online events and discussions without the prior written agreement of the ICAEA Board.

In the event of a breach of the Member Code of Conduct, the Association’s Complaints Procedure will be followed.

In cases of a serious breach, ICAEA reserves the right as appropriate to:

  1. require immediate cessation of a Member’s inappropriate use or referencing of their Membership status, ICAEA’s name, logo or intellectual property,
  2. edit or remove a contribution to an online discussion, and/or,
  3. cancel the Membership without refund.

The decision of the ICAEA Board in such matters is final.

5. Personal Information and Privacy

ICAEA collects and carefully stores any information you provide us when you become a Member, update your Member Profile, register for an event, interact with us by email, and contribute to an event or online discussion.

In accordance with ICAEA’s Privacy Policy, the Association:

  1. only uses this information for the purpose for which it was provided (e.g. to service your Membership, or registration to an event), and,
  2. will not share, sell or distribute the information you provide us to any other party without your express permission, unless required by law.

6. Permission to Contact

By becoming an ICAEA Member, you agree that the Association may send you email about your Membership, Member Benefits, ICAEA events, news and activities.

Membership Directory

Members may choose whether their Member Profile appears in the Membership Directory that is viewable only by other Members on the ICAEA website. The Membership Directory does not display your email address to other Members. According to GDPR regulations, ICAEA may not provide your email address to another Member without your prior permission.

7. Data Transmission

ICAEA takes reasonable measures to ensure the safe transmission of all data you send to the Association. However, even when data encryption is used, the security of information transmitted via the internet cannot be fully guaranteed. Any losses incurred or sustained by a Member who transmits information by electronic means shall be borne solely and exclusively by the Member. In no case shall any such losses in whole or in part be borne by ICAEA.

8. Liability

ICAEA’s liability to its Members does not extend to any Membership Benefits, or products or services provided by a third party. ICAEA specifically excludes liability for any loss or damage suffered by a Member as a result of their involvement in any matter with an external or third party.

ICAEA makes reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of information on our website, in publications and in mailings. However, neither ICAEA, its Board, nor any associated subsidiary groups of the Association, can accept liability for errors and omissions.

ICAEA is not responsible for the content or accessibility of any website linking to or from ours. We may not have verified the content of any such website and a link between our and another website does not necessarily imply any endorsement. ICAEA accepts no responsibility or liability for information or content provided on such websites. When you choose to follow a link to another website you do so at your own risk. It is your responsibility to take protective measures to guard against viruses and other destructive elements.

9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

ICAEA is a non-profit association established under French Loi d’Association. These Terms and Conditions are so governed by French law. You hereby irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the French courts notwithstanding the jurisdiction where you are based.
