The International Language Testing Association (ILTA) established the Aviation Assessment Special Interest Group (AASIG) in June 2021. The group was created to build a strong community dedicated to promoting research on language assessment for aviation, fostering the development of international partnerships, and advocating for best practices in language assessment for aviation, among other things.
On 23 November 2021, the AASIG will host its first webinar to discuss the importance of intercultural communication and awareness in radiotelephony communications. Two SIG members will present their research findings on the topic, followed by a Q&A session.
Ana Lúcia Tavares Monteiro, who is also an ICAEA Board member, will talk about “International aeronautical radiotelephony: Exploring the construct of intercultural communication between pilots and air traffic controllers.”
Hyejeong Kim will present on “International aeronautical communities of practice and building more robust, shared repertoires for successful intercultural communication.”
The webinar will be an opportunity for ICAEA Members to keep updated with research on this topic.
